Review:

The Goalrilla GLR GS 54 Basketball System is an in-ground basketball system that features a 54 inch tempered glass backboard. This basketball system has a one piece pole as opposed to many other models that are made of 2 or 3 pieces.

Goalrilla believes in welding their products rather than having them attached by many nuts and bolts. That is why their basketball system has a one piece 5 x 5 inch pole. This basketball system is mostly made out of powder coated steel for rust resistance. Its tempered glass backboard also has a steel frame.

The basketball system

This basketball system’s backboard is made of tempered glass. Its dimensions are 54 x 34 x 3/8 inches. Tempered glass offers true rebound that artificial backboards cannot provide. It is like playing with a regulation goal.

The backboard has an internal steel frame that is 1 x 2 inches in dimensions and a radius edge aluminum trim. Attached to the backboard is the breakaway rim with the nylon net. There is a 2.5 feet overhang between the backboard and the pole for more room to play.

The powder coated steel pole features an all-steel square actuator that is an easy height adjustment mechanism. The rim can be adjusted between 7.5 and 10 feet.

Easy assembly

This in-ground basketball system is quite heavy. It weighs 291.1 pounds. This is why it might need more than just one person to assemble it. In particular, attaching the backboard will need another person’s help. Still, its assembly is not as difficult as other basketball systems. One just has to put the big components together.

It will also require the same amount of effort needed in assembling other in-ground systems. Someone has to dig a hole and encase the pole’s base in cement. Make sure to buy two more bags of cement in case twelve bags is not enough.

Another good thing about this basketball system is its anchor bolt mounting system which allows for easy leveling. In case one moved to a new home, this basketball system can also be removed and reinstalled. This basketball system includes rebar steel rods to strengthen its concrete base. Once assembled, it is sturdy and solid even if there is minimal pole flex.

Bottom line: The Goalrilla GLR GS 54 Basketball System is an in-ground basketball system that requires minimal assembly. It may have minimal pole flex and it is heavy, but that is because it is mostly made of solid steel that is rust resistant. This hoop is very solid and sturdy.
